OptaPro will host a football analytics conference in Germany for the first time on 23rd March, taking place at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund.
The one-day event, held exclusively for professional teams, will focus on how data can be applied to help inform decision making within professional football.
At the invitation-only conference, sessions will cover the match analysis cycle, recruitment strategies and the implementation of advanced analytics.
Speakers covering the match analysis cycle, recruitment and panel sessions will draw on their significant experience of working within the club environment, and will be able to provide a unique understanding of how to implement these data-driven ideas and processes.
OptaPro and the Institut für Fussballmanagement will also deliver presentations that will take an analytical focus, showcasing examples of various metrics can be applied to support both match analysis and recruitment.
Andrew Blake and Peter Clark, Leicester City Football Club
Andrew and Peter will discuss how the Premier League team uses data to prepare for upcoming matches, and the role of data within post-match analysis at the club.
Jason Lawson, Reading Football Club
In his presentation, Jason will provide a detailed discussion of his processes regarding using data to analyse opposition.
Rory Campbell, West Ham United Football Club
Rory's presentation will draw on how he has integrated data within the football club from a recruitment perspective. Rory will also discuss the role of data in supporting a club's recruitment strategy.
Steve Head, Charlton Athletic Football Club
With over 30 years’ experience within professional football across a range of roles, Steve’s presentation will focus on how data is used to inform decision making within recruitment.
Tom Worville and Sam Gregory, OptaPro
Tom and Sam will showcase a case study of Hertha Berlin, focusing on the application of advanced metrics and how these can be used to gain further insight when analysing team performance.
Dr. Alexander Schmalhofer and Markus Brunnschneider, Institut für Fussballmanagement
Alexander and Markus’s presentation will explore applications and possibilities around working with both event and tracking data.
A panel session will also take place with representatives from various European clubs where discussion will focus on the contrasting approaches within these environments.
