In Data Scout, I cannot search for players across a specific selection of competitions?

Begin by selecting the "All" competition, this will pull back all available players across every competition available in your subscription. Then on the grid view right click and select "choose columns". On the right hand side of the new window you can select data such as player age and nationality but also competitions. Tick this and click apply. The new grid view then show a new column with the competition the player is currently playing in. Click the header of this column and you can filter out any competitions you do not wish to include.

My team's FA Cup/League Cup match is not appearing in LM.

Opta take a feed of data from the Press Association for non televised Cup and lower league matches. Please contact customerservice-uk@optasports.com who will be able to provide you with the relevent game ID to place in your browser and access your game.

What does Opta's Tactical Formation show?

This is the actual or average formation. The location of a players ball contacts are aggregated and an average is taken to show his 'true' position

How do Opta calculate possession? Why does it vary from other sources?

Opta calculate this based on pass events. Possession is the percentage of passes each team makes individually from the total passes made in the game by both teams.

Is is possible to modify the list of events available in Video Scout?

Yes it is possible to customise this but from a set list of variables. Please contact product@optasports.com to discuss your requirements.

Is is possible to customise the data categories in Data Scout?

Yes, DataScout is highly customisable and can be tailored to your specific requirements. Users can input their own metrics, based on combinations of the existing raw data, and search using these on the interface. Please contact product@optasports.com for more information.

What does the Opta heat map show?

The Opta heat map shows the location of a players ball touches on the pitch. The more intense the colour, the greater the number of touches the player had in that area of the pitch.

How do Opta cater for the change of ends at half time?

Generally all data is 'normalised' to a single direction of play (either left to right or bottom to top). In VideoScout you have the option of amending this as required.

I am using Opta's F24 feed, what does the file name mean?

The filename will be f24-{competition_id}-{season_id}-{match_id}.xml, so an examples for the 2011/12 Premier League may be f24-8-2011-f123456.xml.
